About the event
Have you ever wanted to create your own incredible designs on fabric? Let Eda guide you through the steps in creating your own marbled fabric using traditional Turkish Ebru, water marbling, in this two-and-a-half-hour course in regional Victoria. Eda will talk to you about the rich history and culture behind Ebru and where her art practice started and her passion came from. She will discuss the tools and supplies that are needed in the practice of Ebru including the 'size' (medium), as well as the adaptions, preparations and considerations when working on different fabrics including their pretreatment requirements and post dying requirements. Eda will demonstrate a range of techniques and traditional and modern designs that you will get to practice on your own individual tray that you will then be able to preserve by creating several beautiful pieces of patterned paper. You will then move onto transferring your patterns onto 3 pieces of 28x28cm fabric including silk and cotton before moving on to make one 50cm chiffon scarf. Continue your marbling journey at home using your newfound skills and knowledge!
Please Note - Pieces will be wet/damp at the end of your workshop, you can choose return postage and we will post your work to you after class, pick your work up from the venue 7 days a week up to 3 weeks after the workshop or take them home damp. A towel would be helpful to protect your car in this case.
